Cultural heritage empowers cross-border regions

“The promotion of cultural exchanges and cultural tourism is one of the main priorities in cross-border cooperation between Serbia and Bosnia and Herzegovina, as evidenced by the rich existing cultural heritage,” said Deputy Ambassador of the European Union Delegation to the Republic of Serbia, Plamena Halačeva, at the Diplomatic Day organized within the framework of the first regional wool felting colony in Sremska Mitrovica.

The first wool felting colony in Sremska Mitrovica is part of the project “Together for Cultural Tourism – Cross-Border Cooperation for Better Socio-Economic Development and Preservation of Traditional Crafts,” implemented by NALED and the Ethno Network in partnership with the association BHcrafts, with the support of the European Union.

The colony in Sremska Mitrovica brought together over 20 craftswomen from Serbia and Bosnia and Herzegovina skilled in felting and interested in connecting and collaborating in the preservation of culture and craft skills in the cross-border region. The Diplomatic Day in the colony was dedicated to the visit of officials and diplomats who were there to provide support to craftswomen in rural areas.
