“The rule of law got a new home in Novi Sad. The construction of the Palace of Justice will not only provide a coherent workplace for courts and prosecutors’ offices, but will also increase the efficiency of service delivery, “said EU Ambassador to Serbia Emanuele Giaufret, laying the foundation stone for the new building of the Basic and Higher Court and Public Prosecutor’s Office in Novi Sad. The ceremony was also attended by the Minister of Justice, Maja Popović, and the Mayor of Novi Sad, Miloš Vučević. It is about the construction of an important infrastructure project, the realisation of which will improve the working conditions of judicial bodies and significantly facilitate access to justice for citizens. The rule of law is essential for Serbia’s European integration process, as is the full implementation of the Chapter 23 action plan. The efficiency and independence of the judiciary are crucial elements.
